February 14 Bob Fest 2007 I went to Bob Fest on Saturday night and all in all had a pretty good time! Would have been a lot better had my babysitter not flaked on me, but Kai-Kai had a blast at his first concert. So one thing that is puzzling me is that on the flyer, it said "Bob Fest... A tribute to Bob Marley..." and the only tribute that was ever actually paid to him was that they played his music (here and there) inbetween sets!?! Call me crazy but I had anticipated that the performers would be covering his music and if not that, at least expound on his music and what it's meant to everyone 25years later. Thus the meaning of a tribute, no? I was a bit disapointed by that, I mean to me and I may be alone here but I find it all a little like exploitation. Now before you all start sending hate mail my way, it is only my opinion and a justifiable one at that! I do however leave the topic up for discussion or debate. Unfortunately I only heard about 5 of Lauren Hills songs because my lil man fell asleep about two songz into her set... Not to mention the poor girl was cueing the sound guyz on every song! She was fashionably late, or shall I say she easily converted to "Hawaiian Time." LOL... She is absolutely tiny, but a beautiful woman, and duh, a hellova vocalist/singer. Only the sound at side stage where I was didnt do her justice, I mean I dunno if it sounded as bad to those front and center... but like I saud, she had to cue the sound people at least once on every song. I was all of 8 feet away from her when she entered side stage and she waved at us all, and gave it her all when she got on stage. She is quite a performer, I only wish I could have stayed to see her swan song. Someone else will have to tell me all about it. Oh yeah and I 4got to bring my camera *DeR* so no picz to post, but at least I kept my wittle ticket stub to add to my collection! August 17 Viva La Música NuevaI’ve just discovered this band Blue October. I wish that I could write like this but since I can not, I thought that I might at least share it…
Learning to love life by living through loss and mistakes As spoken by Blue October “Retarded, Disfigured Clown” from their album “Consent to Treatment” If you'd like to listen to a sample CLICK HERE and scroll down to 'Listen to Samples'... Though the album was released back in 2000, I’d never really heard of them until recently (I am so musically out of the loop these days). These are the fellas who sing the song, “Hate Me” that has been making the radio rounds. This is about as painstakingly honest as it gets huh? I mean, if you can read this and feel nothing I would seriously check to see if you even have a pulse! |
